The XIII edition of the Inmaculada Alcaldesa Perpetua 5K race is set to take place on Saturday, 28 November, at the new athletics tracks in La Línea de la Concepción. The change from the originally scheduled Sunday is due to the upcoming general elections in Spain.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by the city’s mayor, Juan Franco, the sports councillor, Alejandro Rodríguez, the president of the Linense Athletics Club, Rafael Velasco, and a representative from TEA Esperanza Azul, an association supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
Mayor Franco praised the Linense Athletics Club for its efforts in promoting sports, particularly among children, and highlighted the operational status of the new athletics tracks, which are nearing the completion of their latest phase. He also commended TEA Esperanza Azul for its local initiatives.
Councillor Rodríguez expressed gratitude to the athletics club for its commitment to the event and its charitable focus, confirming that one euro from each registration will be donated to TEA Esperanza Azul. Participants are also encouraged to bring one kilogram of non-perishable food items as an additional contribution for Cáritas, a charity that supports those in need.
The race schedule includes a children’s race and a wheelchair-adapted event at 17:30, followed by the main 5-kilometre race at 19:30. Both events will start and finish at the new athletics tracks, with the route extending along the seafront promenade.
Organisers have set a limit of 600 participants for the main race and 300 for the children’s race. Registrations can be completed through the Andalusian Athletics Federation’s website, with fees of 12 euros for the main race and 3 euros for the children’s and adapted events. Bib numbers will be distributed on Friday, 27 November, from 18:00 to 19:30, and on race day from 11:00 to 13:00, as well as up to one hour before each event.
Rafael Velasco acknowledged the support from local sponsors and volunteers, encouraging community participation in the race. TEA Esperanza Azul also expressed appreciation for the event’s support, which helps raise awareness and assist individuals with autism.
