Volotea is set to introduce a new direct connection between A Coruña and Madrid, enhancing its commitment to Alvedro Airport shortly after the official announcement of new routes by the city council, facilitated by the A Coruña Tourism and Congress Consortium.
The new route will commence operations on 27 November, featuring a daily flight in each direction and offering a total of 43,560 seats across 242 flights until March 2027. Flights from A Coruña will depart at 19:10, while those from Madrid will leave at 17:15.
With this addition, Volotea will now operate six domestic routes from Alvedro: Madrid, Bilbao, Málaga, Valencia, Sevilla, and Alicante. A Coruña's mayor, Inés Rey, emphasised that this announcement strengthens the city's air connectivity. "The introduction of Madrid is excellent news for A Coruña. It represents a strategic connection for both citizen mobility and the city's business, tourism, and institutional activities. This new route confirms Volotea's confidence in Alvedro and the growth potential of our airport," Rey stated.
On the same day, new routes to Málaga, Valencia, and Bilbao began operations, with the Sevilla connection launching on Saturday and the Alicante route set to commence next month. These five routes will provide over 185,000 annual seats and enhance the city's connectivity throughout the year.
The mayor reiterated that the city council is committed to establishing Alvedro as a strategic infrastructure for the metropolitan area and for Galicia. "Each new route brings more opportunities to attract visitors, facilitate professional travel, boost economic activity, and continue promoting A Coruña as an open, dynamic city connected to key destinations across the country," she added.
