UD Las Palmas will pay tribute to Jesús de Miguel, a player from CD Tenerife who passed away on Tuesday, during their match against CD Eldense this Sunday. For this occasion, the yellow team will wear their third kit, featuring the white and blue colours representative of their Tenerife rivals.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 17:30 local time at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. The club announced this initiative in a statement, explaining that it aims to convey their respect, affection, and solidarity towards CD Tenerife, as well as to show support for the family, friends, and teammates of the deceased player during this time of mourning.
UD Las Palmas emphasised that this gesture is intended to transcend the sporting realm. Their goal is to express unity between the clubs and their supporters in light of the loss of the Tenerife player. In this regard, the club stated that the initiative serves as “a demonstration of solidarity from all of Canary football in the face of a loss that transcends any sporting rivalry.”
