The city council of Tudela has announced its collaboration in the publication of a children's book titled Berenguela de Tudela, reina de Inglaterra, authored by Mercedes Terrén Miramón and M. A. Gutiérrez Lavín. This initiative aims to introduce young readers to the story of one of Tudela's most important yet overlooked historical figures.
The council has purchased 200 copies of the book, at a total cost of €3,200, which have been distributed to local schools. This effort is part of a broader initiative to enhance local history education in classrooms.
Berenguela of Tudela, sister of Sancho VII of Navarre, was a prominent historical figure whose life remains relatively unknown. The publication seeks to raise awareness among children about her significance and the history connected to Tudela.
In addition to using the book as an educational resource, schools will have the opportunity to organise meetings with the authors, allowing students to delve deeper into Berenguela's life and historical context.
This book release coincides with an exhibition dedicated to Berenguela, which is currently on display at the Casa del Almirante. Both initiatives aim to promote the history of this important figure and make it accessible to the public, particularly to young audiences.
