The Port Authority of Santander (APS) has announced a public tender for the drafting of a construction project and technical assistance for the renovation of the Raos 5 dock. The project has a budget of €803,125, including VAT, and is expected to take 15 months to complete.
Bids must be submitted by 17 November. The work involves drafting the construction project, which must be completed within the first three months of the contract, while the remaining twelve months will focus on technical support during the execution of the project.
The integration of these tasks is justified, according to APS president César Díaz, by the need for “technical continuity between design and subsequent control of a highly specialised geotechnical and structural operation.”
During the project drafting phase, the contractor will be responsible for preliminary tasks, including verifying available information and cartography, conducting topographic and bathymetric surveys, and carrying out geotechnical campaigns. Additionally, they will define and calculate solutions, manage dredging and environmental documentation, implement Building Information Modeling (BIM), and prepare a report that includes plans, budgets, safety and health studies, and waste management strategies.
The assistance phase will cover pre-construction tasks, on-site monitoring and control of the works, safety and health coordination plans, and BIM technical assistance.
Díaz stated that the renovation of the Raos 5 dock, which will increase the depth from 10 to 13 metres, will lead to “greater mooring capacity” and “a change in the operation of the infrastructure, making it more versatile.” He added, “We continue to reorganise spaces to improve the provision of port services at our public docks.”
This project complements the construction of the new Raos 6 dock, which is a response to the success of the container terminal and the significant increase in activity at the North Pier.
