Samaín 2026 in O Porriño attracts thousands for a night of thrills

The Samaín 2026 festival in O Porriño wrapped up with remarkable success, attracting thousands of visitors eager to enjoy a day of frights, art, and fun. The much-anticipated opening of the Tunnel of Terror at the Town Hall was a standout moment. The overwhelming turnout led to the event being extended well beyond the planned hours, remaining open past 10 PM.

The eerie corridors of the iconic building, designed by architect Antonio Palacios, provided a backdrop for genuine scares that delighted attendees, particularly children, many of whom left with more fright than they had expected.

In the streets, a spectacular performance by Pablo Méndez Performances captivated the audience. The imposing figure of the god Anubis mesmerised onlookers, spontaneously generating a procession of followers throughout the urban route, from San Sebastián to the Fuente del Cristo.

Another key aspect of the day was the active participation of local schools and families, who roamed the town centre searching for pumpkins decorated by their children. Nearly 350 pumpkins adorned the streets, with particularly striking creations including decapitated pumpkins and representations of terrifying characters.

The mayor of O Porriño, Alejandro Lorenzo, expressed his satisfaction with the event's outcome and the enthusiastic reception from the community, highlighting its success despite being postponed by a day due to national mourning. Additionally, children enjoyed workshops, face painting, and music that filled Antonio Palacios Square, creating a festive atmosphere.
