Ribadeo opens registration for 2026 Christmas market

The town council of Ribadeo has announced the opening of registration for its Christmas market, which will take place from 4 to 8 December 2026. Applications will be accepted from 21 October to 4 November.

Marta Saiz, the councillor for Economic Promotion, Business Initiatives, Tourism and Commerce, explained that this initiative reinforces the municipal commitment to promoting craftsmanship and recognising the work of professionals who contribute to preserving artisanal trades through their unique creations.

The market will be held at Campo de San Francisco, operating from 11:00 to 14:30 and 17:00 to 21:00 each day. Over the five-day event, the space will showcase artisans, creators, designers, and food producers, with a special emphasis on handmade products that stand out for their originality, quality, and unique character.

Saiz noted that promoting craftsmanship is a fundamental aspect of this year's Christmas market. The town council aims to increase visibility for artisanal work, facilitate direct contact between professionals and the public, and create new opportunities for the dissemination and commercialisation of artisanal creations. To this end, 75% of the available stalls will be reserved for accredited artisan workshops, reinforcing the presence of recognised artisans. The remaining 25% will be allocated to other creators and designers whose proposals align with the market's themes and objectives.

She emphasised that the initiative aims to make the market a reference point for discovering and purchasing artisanal products, understanding the work behind each creation, and appreciating the dedication, technique, and creativity that characterise artisanal trades. Additionally, it seeks to contribute to the economic sustainability of these activities and strengthen the local productive fabric.

The regulatory bases prohibit the resale of industrial products or those made by third parties, ensuring a differentiated offering and prioritising original creations. This approach promotes a commercial model where authenticity, quality, and artisanal work are the key distinguishing elements.

Saiz encouraged participation in the Christmas market, particularly urging accredited artisan workshops and interested artisans and creators to seize this opportunity to showcase their creations, enhance their visibility, and connect with both local residents and visitors.
