Pedro Cerbuna college to host 'La buena estrella' session with Isabel Peña and Raúl Arévalo

On 20 October, Isabel Peña, a screenwriter from Zaragoza, and actor Raúl Arévalo will participate in the 259th session of 'La buena estrella', a conversation series organised by the Vice-Rectorate of Culture and Heritage at the University of Zaragoza, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. This special session will take place at the Pedro Cerbuna College on the San Francisco campus, where the first two episodes of the series 'El castillo', premiered on 8 October on Movistar Plus, will be screened with free admission.

Following the screening, scheduled for around 7:30pm, a discussion will be held featuring Peña and Arévalo, moderated by Luis Alegre, a writer, journalist, and professor at the University of Zaragoza. Media attention will occur at 6:15pm during the series screening.

'El castillo' is a six-episode crime series based on the non-fiction book 'El proxeneta' by Mabel Lozano, which chronicles the rise of a prostitution mafia in Spain. The series stars Raúl Arévalo, Valentina Vidal, Omar Ayuso, and Laia Marull, and has received a warm reception at the recent San Sebastián Film Festival.

Isabel Peña and Eduardo Villanueva are credited with the creation, production, and writing of the series, with Elena Martín Gimeno serving as the lead director, supported by Sandra Romero. Peña, a recipient of multiple Goya Awards and the Silver Shell at the San Sebastián Festival, and Arévalo, a two-time Goya Award winner for both acting and directing, are currently enjoying success with the film 'El ser querido' by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, co-written by Peña, in which Arévalo plays a significant role.

Synopsis of 'El castillo'

The series follows Gerardo Liesa, a young police inspector newly assigned to the UCRIF (Central Unit for the Fight Against Illegal Immigration and Document Fraud), and his partner Carmen Osés, as they suspect changes in brothels across Spain. A character named Suizo and his associates run several roadside clubs where they exploit prostitutes from around the world. One of these women, Claudia, arrives in Spain at 18, with a young child in Colombia, seeking a better future.
