The 'A tocar' music cycle, organised by the Diputació de Girona, is set to bring a series of concerts and workshops to hospitals, care centres, and penitentiaries across the region. This initiative aims to provide access to music for groups facing cultural exclusion.
This November, the programme will feature performances at various locations, including the Hospital Universitario de Girona Doctor Josep Trueta, the Residencia Geriátrica Municipal Zoilo Feliu in La Bisbal d'Empordà, the Centro Penitenciario Puig de las Basses in Figueres, the Gent Gran centre in Palafrugell, the Hospital Transfronterizo de Puigcerdà, and the Parc Hospitalari Martí i Julià in Salt.
The project, facilitated by the Diputació de Girona's Cultural Cooperation Service, continues to expand its reach, offering concerts and workshops designed to engage individuals who may have temporary or permanent difficulties accessing mainstream cultural programming. 'A tocar' uses musical language to create spaces for interaction, participation, and emotional development.
Through small-scale concerts and participatory workshops, the initiative fosters direct contact with artistic creation and promotes cultural inclusion for those who often cannot enjoy cultural offerings on equal terms.
This new programme will feature performances by various artists, including singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Núria Mancebo, the duo Blaus and Brises, singer and producer Ramon Mirabet, folk-inspired group Les Boscaleres, singer-songwriter Mandi Rules, and percussionist and workshop leader Nan Mercader.
The technical support for the project is provided by the Casa de la Música de las Comarcas Gironinas Foundation, based in Salt, which works to promote music as a tool for social transformation. The foundation develops educational programmes, supports emerging artists, and encourages activities that contribute to a diverse musical scene rooted in the local community and accessible to all.
