The town hall of Cambrils was filled with joy and camaraderie on 24 October during two receptions for residents celebrating their 65th and 50th birthdays in 2026. The morning session honoured those born in 1961, while the afternoon was dedicated to those born in 1976.
Both events were characterised by a festive and relaxed atmosphere, with smiles, conversations, and shared memories. This occasion provided a chance for attendees to reconnect, celebrate their journeys, and look forward with optimism, transforming the hall into a meeting point for two generations integral to the life of Cambrils.
Mayor Oliver Klein emphasised the importance of these receptions, stating, “There are days when the town hall hosts debates and decisions, and days like this when it is filled with memories, laughter, and a desire to celebrate. We are thrilled that residents feel the town hall is their home and that we can share such special moments in their lives.”
Klein also addressed both generations, saying, “Those of you turning 65 and those of you turning 50 share much more than a date on the calendar: the experiences, the connections, and everything you have contributed and continue to contribute to Cambrils. These gatherings are a simple and sincere way to acknowledge that and to celebrate together all that is yet to come.”
In a personal touch, Klein, who also turned 50 in 2026, added, “I belong to the same generation as those in the afternoon session, so I could welcome myself as well. It is exciting to reach 50 and celebrate with people who share so many memories and common references. And seeing the energy of the 65-year-olds in the morning, it is clear that the future will bring us many satisfactions.”
Each honouree received a reproduction of a work by Josep Piqué Iserte (1913-2012), a renowned artist from Montbrió del Camp. The gifts included a watercolour of the Cambrils fishing port from 1945 and an oil painting of the port from 1958. The Josep Piqué Foundation, established by his daughter, aims to promote and preserve Piqué's artistic legacy, which reflects his deep connection to Cambrils.
Through these receptions, the town hall sought to offer a heartfelt recognition to the residents celebrating significant anniversaries this year and to strengthen the bonds that make Cambrils a vibrant community.
