Marítim district launches second belén competition with €2,000 in prizes

The Marítim Municipal Board has announced the second edition of its Belén competition, an initiative aimed at promoting awareness of this cultural expression and supporting the tradition of creating nativity scenes, known as belenes, in various forms.

The competition, detailed in the Official Bulletin of the Province of València, is exclusively open to entities registered with the Municipal Register of Citizen Entities of the València City Council, located within the Marítim district.

A total prize fund of €2,000 is available, divided into three categories. In the Traditional category, modality A, a first prize of €100 and a diploma will be awarded. In modality B of the Traditional category, a first prize of €450, a second prize of €350, and a third prize of €150 will be given, all accompanied by diplomas. The Free Design category will also feature a first prize of €450, a second prize of €350, and a third prize of €150, with diplomas for each.

Additionally, ten honorary mentions will be awarded with diplomas across the three categories.

The application period runs from 2 to 30 November, inclusive. Registrations can be submitted via the general application form of the València City Council, either through the municipal electronic headquarters or at the General Entry Registry of the Marítim Board, located at Calle Barraca, 53. A copy of the application should also be sent to jmmaritim@valencia.es to facilitate tracking.

Applications must include the name of the participating entity, the location of the belén, visiting hours, the responsible person's name and phone number, as well as an approximate cost of the nativity scene. Entities must meet the requirements outlined in the competition announcement, be up to date with tax obligations, social security contributions, and any subsidy repayments, and must not be subject to any disqualifications from receiving benefits.
