The world of video games and digital creation will take centre stage in Marín on Saturday, 24 October, with the celebration of the Xuntanza Godoteira. This event is designed for participants to try out games, share experiences, and expand their knowledge around Godot, a free software tool for video game development.
The initiative was presented this morning outside the Vidal Pazos Library by Hugo González, the councillor for New Technologies, alongside representatives from the Godoteiras association of Marín, who outlined the planned schedule for the day’s sessions.
The first event will kick off at 11:30 AM at the Manuel Torres Museum, where a showcase of video games developed using Godot will take place. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore creations made with this tool and learn about the work of its users.
Godot has an active community in Galicia, focused on developing new video games, many of which are in Galician, as well as fostering an interest in video game culture. The gathering will provide visibility to this activity and facilitate connections among creators, enthusiasts, and those curious about this field.
The afternoon programme will commence at 4:00 PM at the Vidal Pazos Library, featuring workshops and talks aimed at sharing knowledge and exploring the possibilities of Godot. The event seeks to strengthen ties among users of this software, encourage the exchange of experiences, and welcome newcomers interested in video game creation.
By hosting this event across two municipal cultural spaces, Marín will serve as a meeting point for technology, creativity, and collaboration, while also highlighting the development of digital content in Galician. The Xuntanza Godoteira will be free to attend.
