The twelfth edition of La Senda Mágica, a theatrical walk designed to immerse families in the characters and legends of Cantabrian mythology, will be held on 24 and 25 October. Esther Vélez, the Councillor for Culture, and Aroa Gómez from the local theatre company Amalgama Teatral, announced the event today.
This year, the event will introduce the Caballucos del Diablo as a new highlight. As in previous editions, an Anjana, portrayed by Aroa Gómez, will guide participants through the natural setting of La Viesca, revealing the mythological beings hidden along the route and sharing their stories.
Vélez noted that over the past twelve editions, the event has introduced approximately twenty characters from Cantabrian mythology, including the Ojáncano and the Anjanas. Each edition brings a new character to enrich this cultural offering.
The Councillor emphasised that La Viesca provides an “unbeatable setting” for the event and encouraged families to participate in an experience that allows them to “enjoy our traditions” and introduce younger generations to the region's cultural heritage. The aim is to preserve and promote local identity while offering “a cultural leisure alternative for families.”
Vélez also expressed gratitude to Amalgama Teatral for their dedication, quality, and the collaboration of Civil Protection to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.
Aroa Gómez shared her excitement about the inclusion of the Caballucos del Diablo and expressed hope that families will enjoy this edition as much as those before it.
Event details
La Senda Mágica will feature three daily sessions at 11:30, 12:30, and 13:30 on both days. Each session will accommodate 50 participants, allowing for a total of 300 attendees. The event is free, but prior registration is required.
