La Massana celebrates castanyada with music and film on 31 October

La Massana will celebrate the traditional castanyada on Saturday, 31 October, with an afternoon and evening filled with activities suitable for all ages. The programme will combine the customs of All Saints' Day with fun Halloween-related events, including film screenings, children's workshops, and music, culminating in a popular castanyada.

The festivities will commence at 5 p.m. at the Teatre de les Fontetes, featuring a free screening of the animated film Coco. No prior reservation is required, but seating is limited. The Mexican Association in Andorra is collaborating on this event by creating a traditional altar at the theatre entrance, a key element of the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration, which honours and remembers loved ones who have passed away.

At 6:30 p.m., the celebration will move to the plaza de les Fontetes for a workshop aimed at children and families, organised by Tot Idea, also without the need for prior booking. From 8:30 p.m., Andorran DJ Richy Vuelcom will take to the stage to enliven the Halloween night, transforming the plaza into a dance floor and social space. Participants are encouraged to come in costume, as has been customary in recent years, and enjoy the music before the evening's traditional highlight.

The popular castanyada will take place at 9 p.m. in the plaza de les Fontetes, allowing attendees to partake in one of the most cherished traditions of All Saints' Day.

In the lead-up to Saturday's celebration, a children's workshop titled “Sopa de bruja” will be held on Wednesday, 28 October, at 11 a.m., organised by La Capsa. Prior reservation is necessary by calling 344 506.

The celebration of All Saints' Day coincides with school holidays, which extend throughout the week. Consequently, both Esplai and Punt 400 have prepared various activities to ensure that children and young people can enjoy a week of leisure and fun. Esplai's All Saints' workshops will run throughout the week, offering a full schedule of morning and afternoon sessions to support families. Meanwhile, the Punt 400 youth centre has planned daily activities for young people to choose from, catering to their interests and preferences.
