Korean artist Kana Ji to showcase ‘Cañón de la luz’ exhibition in Estepona

The town hall of Estepona has announced that Korean artist Kana Ji will present her abstract painting exhibition titled ‘Cañón de la luz’ starting from 29 October. The exhibition will be held in Sala 1 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in Plaza de las Flores, and will be open to the public until 11 November.

Visitors can view the collection of twelve works from Tuesday to Friday, between 09:00 and 20:00, and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, with free entry.

Kana Ji studied at the National University of Arts in Seoul, where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from 2000 to 2006. She identifies as an abstract artist who engages with light, matter, and the state of existence that remains after collapse. Through the use of golden and silver pigments, torn papers, fragmented materials, and repeated layers, she explores themes of suffering, time, and the condition of light that emerges beyond these experiences.

“My work is not representation, but a testament to existential reversal and life,” she states.

Among her recent solo exhibitions are ‘Un Viaje Luminoso: De Seúl a Estepona’ held at Coffee & Library GIDC in Gyeonggi, Korea (2024), ‘Un Viaje Luminoso: Desde el Principio hasta el Monte Sion’, and ‘Una Persona: Agnus Dei’ at NAVA Gallery in Gyeonggi, Korea (2023), as well as ‘Luz y Energía’ at Coral Gallery in Seoul, Korea. She has also participated in group exhibitions and art fairs in Korea, Singapore, and the United States.

In 2019, she received the Award for Maximum Excellence at Gangnam Sarang Art Gallery in Seoul during the Young Christian Artists Festival, and her work ‘Ipseon’ was selected in various national art competitions between 2011 and 2016.
