The fourth edition of the music competition at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is now open for entries, with the goal of fostering and showcasing artistic and creative activity in modern music among the university community, particularly its students.
Applications will be accepted until 8 January 2027 and must be submitted to the Vice-Rectorate for Culture, Language and Heritage via the university's Electronic Registry. Following the announcement of the results, a final selection phase will take place, culminating in a live performance on 8 April 2027 at the Centro Joven de Creación Cultural de la Almáciga, where participants will have a maximum of 10 minutes to perform.
Three prizes will be awarded: the first prize of €600, which includes direct access to the Band Accelerator Programme at the Centro Joven de Creación Cultural de la Almáciga for one year, offering mentorship and professionalisation support; the second prize of €550; and the third prize of €350.
Any member of the USC community can participate, either individually or as part of a group. For groups, at least two members must be from the university, or three if the group has five or more members. All group members must meet the competition requirements.
Individuals or groups that have previously won a prize in the last two editions of the competition are not eligible to participate this year. Each participant or group may submit only one application. If any group member is underage at the time of application, a signed authorisation from a parent or legal guardian must be included with the documentation.
All submitted works must be original and not have been awarded in any other competition. Participants who have released any discographic work are also ineligible unless it is self-published and does not currently have a record label backing. The songs presented must be in Galician.
