Girona's mayor, Lluc Salellas y Vilar, received American cyclist Brandon McNulty at the Town Hall on 19 October 2026. The meeting took place in the mayor's office and was attended by Àdam Bertran and Martínez, the councillor for Sports, Youth, University City, and Catalan Language.
McNulty is a professional cyclist with the UAE Team Emirates-XRG and became the elite men's road cycling world champion in September 2026 at the World Championships held in Montreal. His notable achievements also include winning the junior time trial world championship in 2016, the overall classification of the Tour of Poland in 2025, and the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana in 2024, as well as stage victories in the Giro d'Italia in 2023 and the Vuelta a España in 2024.
The American cyclist is visiting Girona, where he trains during certain times of the year. The meeting served to welcome him to the municipality and emphasise the city's strong ties to professional cycling. During the visit, the mayor presented McNulty with a skyline of Girona as an official gift from the city.
