The Provincial Tourism Board is taking part in the annual Gastrónoma fair, which runs from 23 to 28 October at Feria Valencia. The event aims to highlight the culinary excellence and emerging talents of Alicante's gastronomy.
José Mancebo, director of the autonomous body of the Diputación, stated, “The province of Alicante is once again consolidating its position as a leading gastronomic power by attending this reference fair in the culinary and agri-food sector.”
He added that their presence is part of the Operational Promotion Plan for Costa Blanca, designed to showcase Alicante's pantry, the Mediterranean diet, and the tourism-gastronomy relationship as distinctive marks of quality and innovation.
On the opening day, the main stage, Cocina Central l’Exquisit, will host the Costa Blanca Aperitif Day. This event will spotlight the work of three emerging culinary talents from local restaurants: Ausiàs in Pedreguer, La Muralla on Isla de Tabarca, and Mimo in Guardamar del Segura. They will be joined by renowned chef Aurora Torres, culminating in a tasting session for attendees.
Additionally, the day will feature a tribute to the sector's service with the presentation of the 'Mediterranean Hospitality' award to the restaurant El Xato in La Nucía.
The activities will continue in the Aula Costa Blanca space, featuring a packed schedule of technical talks, practical workshops, and showcookings that will showcase both innovative cuisine and traditional dishes linked to the province's Denominations of Origin.
Mancebo highlighted that gastronomy has become a key factor in attracting discerning travellers, emphasising that Alicante offers a diverse recipe repertoire supported by high-quality local products with Denominations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications.
Through discussions, workshops, and meetings with producers and top chefs, Costa Blanca's participation in Gastrónoma reaffirms “the institutional commitment to the agri-food value chain and the promotion of the Alicante brand in the national and international gastronomic landscape,” concluded Mancebo.
