Gran Canaria witnessed a historic celebration on 4 September 2025, as the 73rd edition of the Romería Ofrenda to the Virgen del Pino drew more than 60,000 attendees, more than double the number from the previous year. The event took place in a warm atmosphere of fraternity and unity.
Antonio Morales, president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, described the occasion as 'special', highlighting the strong participation of young people. He led the Cabildo's float, which carried 1,260 kilograms of food donations.
During the event, a total of 30 tonnes of food were collected from various municipalities, further emphasising the historic nature of this year's Romería in Teror. Morales expressed pride in the celebration, stating, 'It is a festival of Gran Canaria that loves its values and identity, with immense participation, celebrating the sense of pride and belonging that brings us together in Teror.'
The municipality of Teror estimates that around 300,000 people, approximately one-third of the island's population, have participated in various events throughout the ongoing festivities.
The Cabildo de Gran Canaria also extended its gratitude to all security forces and local municipalities for their contributions, ensuring a safe and successful Romería Ofrenda.
Additionally, until 20 September, the Cabildo's showcase on Calle Bravo Murillo features eleven traditional costumes that illustrate the history of Gran Canaria's attire from the 18th century to the early 20th century.
