Coria to host 'Tentaciones de Cáceres. Sustainable Market' from 23 to 25 October

Coria will host the first edition of 'Tentaciones de Cáceres. Sustainable Market' from 23 to 25 October, an initiative by the Provincial Council of Cáceres in collaboration with the Coria City Council. This event will bring together 45 exhibiting companies and entities, including 37 local Extremaduran producers and eight additional organisations, showcasing the quality and diversity of the region's agri-food products.

On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, the squares and streets of the historic centre will transform into meeting spaces for producers, professionals, and consumers, offering residents and visitors the chance to discover new flavours, learn about the participating companies, and enjoy a programme that connects gastronomy, tradition, and responsible consumption.

Raúl Sánchez, a councillor for the Coria City Council, emphasised that the event represents a significant opportunity for the city, promoting its heritage and gastronomy while attracting visitors and stimulating the local economy. He noted that hotel occupancy is at 100% due to the event and expressed gratitude to the Provincial Council of Cáceres and all involved entities for their support in making this first edition possible.

The programme will kick off on Friday 23 October with a professional technical day titled 'Innovation and Cooperation to Boost the Cross-Border Agrosocial Ecosystem', held in the city council's plenary hall. This meeting will gather professionals and specialists from Extremadura and Portugal to discuss topics such as generational change, innovation, and best practices in the agri-food sector.

On Saturday and Sunday, activities will move to the squares of Cava, España, and the Cathedral, as well as Horno Street, where exhibition and sales areas will be set up. A key attraction will be the GastroCáceres space in Doctor Camisón Square, featuring showcookings and tastings of products protected by designations of origin and geographical indications.

The programme also includes ten workshops and participatory activities related to sustainability, responsible consumption, and food waste reduction. Children can engage in activities such as making seed bombs, urban gardening, and creating insect hotels, while adults can participate in sessions on reading labels, understanding carbon footprints, and exploring circular economy concepts.

Local culture and traditions will play a significant role, with guided tours of the Monumental City, performances by the Savia Viva Folklore Group, and the outdoor multidisciplinary show 'Legends Under the Light of the Moon'. Additionally, there will be initiatives to promote food utilisation and culinary creativity through recipes made with local produce.

'Tentaciones de Cáceres. Sustainable Market' is part of the AGROSOCIAL project, aimed at boosting the social economy ecosystem in the agri-food sector and promoting quality job creation in rural areas. The City Council encourages citizens and visitors to explore the market spaces, participate in the planned activities, and discover the gastronomic, cultural, and heritage richness of Coria.
