The Cantabria government, through the Ministry of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Commerce, has launched a new commercial dynamisation campaign aimed at rewarding purchases made in local establishments with invitations to attend the 'Concierto del Comercio'. This concert will feature popular Spanish bands M-Clan and Café Quijano, along with Escuela de Calor, on 5 December at the Palacio de Deportes in Santander.

This initiative is part of the 'ComPremio Cantabria' programme, developed by the General Directorate of Commerce and Consumption in collaboration with the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce. It aims to encourage consumption in local commerce by combining shopping, culture, leisure, and tourism.

The campaign will involve a maximum of 250 participating shops across Cantabria. Interested establishments can register starting from 12:00 hours on Friday via the website www.compremiocantabria.com. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all spots are filled.

From 16 to 30 November, consumers will be able to obtain invitations for the concert by making purchases of €15 or more at any participating shop. For each purchase of €15 or more, one invitation will be issued, with a maximum of two tickets per transaction. A total of 7,000 invitations will be distributed, with 6,500 allocated to customers and 500 to the participating shops.

Additionally, each participating shop will receive two invitations to an exclusive pre-concert gathering, recognising the daily efforts of local Cantabrian merchants. This event will include a special performance, a small reception, and opportunities for networking among industry professionals.

“We wanted to launch a unique initiative that reflects the relationship between commerce, culture, tourism, and economic dynamisation,” said Rosendo Ruiz, the General Director of Commerce and Consumption. He noted that the concert would serve as a significant incentive to support local commerce and attract new customers.

Ruiz emphasised that one of the campaign's goals is to acknowledge the efforts of those who work daily to sustain local commerce and stimulate the economy in Cantabria's municipalities. He recalled a similar successful initiative held this summer in Torrelavega, which was linked to a concert featuring Duncan Dhu and Maneras de Vivir.

Meanwhile, Miguel Ángel Cuerno, Vice President of the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce and President of COERCAN, highlighted the initiative's primary goal of attracting consumers to local shops and encouraging them to discover new businesses in the region. “We want people to return to shops, to find new establishments they may not have visited before, and to have an added incentive to shop locally,” Cuerno explained.

Guillermo Vega, the concert's organiser, underscored the importance of continuing to develop quality cultural events in Cantabria and linking them to initiatives that benefit the local commercial fabric.

About the concert

The concert on 5 December will bring together M-Clan, celebrating their 30th anniversary, and Café Quijano, two of Spain's most recognised musical acts, on the stage of the Palacio de Deportes in Santander. Escuela de Calor, a Cantabrian group, will open the event, which promises to be a highlight of the December holiday season. The concert is set to begin at 20:00 hours and is part of a strategy aimed at generating economic activity and attracting visitors to Cantabria during a peak tourist period.
