C3A presents 'Patios' by Maider López as part of Flora 2026 festival

The Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) will host the performance 'Patios' by artist Maider López on 14 October at 19:30. This event is part of the 'Exploratorio' cycle, curated by Marisa Lull, under the theme 'Existe un río', and is included in the programming of the Flora festival, which takes place at various locations in Córdoba.

Culture Minister Patricia del Pozo described Flora as a unique festival that positions Córdoba at the forefront of contemporary creation, exploring the boundaries between art and its connections to heritage, landscape, and the environment. She emphasised that the C3A, a space dedicated to contemporary debates, is the ideal venue to embrace Flora and contribute proposals focused on current themes intertwined with the city's cultural and creative fabric.

'Patios' draws inspiration from the courtyards that define Córdoba, offering a collective portrait of the city through its plants, people, and movements. The performance invites observers to reflect on the urban use of vegetation in these patios, connecting the urban and natural, the public and domestic, and the individual and collective.

Students from the Escuela de Arte Dramático de Córdoba (ESAD) will participate in the action, which will take place in the Caja Negra of the C3A, with free entry until capacity is reached.

Maider López is a visual artist known for her public space interventions that challenge the static nature of objects and places, encouraging new ways of seeing and relating. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at prestigious events such as the Venice Biennale and the Istanbul Biennial.

This performance concludes the 'Existe un río' cycle, part of the second edition of the 'Exploratorio' programme 2026, which aims to create a space for listening and experimentation, fostering dialogue between artists and the public.

Additionally, the Caja Negra will host the world premiere of 'La flor cantada' by Martirio, accompanied by pianist Jesús Lavilla, on 17 October at 20:30. This concert will feature a repertoire of songs highlighting flowers, many of which Martirio has not performed publicly before. The programme includes bolero, tango, and copla, exploring themes of love, nostalgia, and longing, with Martirio providing commentary on the chosen pieces.
