This weekend, Ribadeo will host the 21st mar por medio conference, dedicated to exploring the communication and promotion of the values associated with the Camino de Santiago. The event is organised by the Academia Jacobea, with support from the Xunta de Galicia, the Universities of Santiago and Oviedo, and the Ribadeo Town Hall.
The conference will commence on Saturday at 9:30 am in the Salón de los Alcaldes. Attendees can expect two lectures, one from Ricardo Polín and another from Darío Villanueva, alongside two roundtable discussions titled 'The Caminos de Santiago: communication routes from local to international' and 'The values of the Camino de Santiago and the perspectives of associations'.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Virtues at the Puente de Arante. The first day will conclude with the presentation of diplomas and a concert by the Coral Polifónica de Ribadeo.
On Sunday, the municipal auditorium of Ribadeo will host a solemn session of the Academia Jacobea, during which John Rutherford will be inducted as an honorary member and Manuel Valí Valdés as a corresponding member. The musical finale will feature soprano Esperanza Mara.
