Public events for the iv jornadas «De la vida y de la muerte. Una visión diferente» have been postponed to the following week due to three days of official mourning declared across Spain for the victims of the recent train accident in Urda, Toledo.
The activities will now take place on the same days, times, and locations originally planned: on Thursday 5 November at 20:00, a conference titled «La muerte en el cine. Una visión histórica» will be presented by Juan José Lozano Requena in the Sala Joven; on Friday 6 November at 20:00, there will be a dramatization of Edgar Allan Poe's «El corazón delator», performed by José María Bañón Martínez in the courtyard of the Oficina de Turismo; and on Saturday 7 November, the Municipal Cemetery will host various activities including «Poesía para el recuerdo» at 11:00, a necrotourism visit at 12:00, and a lantern-lit necrotourism visit at 20:00.
Meanwhile, the events scheduled for Sunday 1 November, which coincides with the All Saints' Day celebrations, will proceed as planned. At 11:00, «Luz y oración» will take place in the chapel of the Municipal Cemetery, featuring the lighting of candles for the deceased and prayers. At 12:00, «En recuerdo a los ausentes» will be held in the graves area, with a concert by the orchestra of the Sociedad Unión Musical Santa Cecilia and the reading of names of those who have passed away in the last year.
Moisés López, the councillor for the cemetery, expressed gratitude to residents for their understanding regarding this change, which is motivated by the institutional respect required during official mourning. He encouraged the community to participate in the rescheduled activities and the remembrance events on 1 November.
