On Saturday, 7 November, at 20:00, the Teatro Lírico Andaluz will stage 'La tabernera del puerto', a renowned zarzuela by Pablo Sorozábal, featuring a libretto by Federico Romero and Guillermo Fernández-Shaw. The Councillor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, announced this performance, which is regarded as one of the pinnacles of Spanish lyrical theatre.
Originally premiered in 1936, the story is set in Cantabreda, an imaginary fishing port in northern Spain. It follows the tale of Marola, a young tavern keeper who ignites passions and jealousy among the townsfolk. Key characters include Leandro, a fisherman in love with Marola, and Juan de Eguía, a sea man involved in smuggling who manipulates events to his advantage.
Tickets are priced at €10 for the stalls and €15 for the boxes, available for purchase online and at physical sales points. This performance offers residents and visitors of Fuengirola a chance to enjoy zarzuela live in one of the city's main cultural venues.
