The fourth edition of the extremeña music awards is set to be held on 6 March 2027 at the Gran Teatro de Cáceres. This year’s event will introduce a digital system for managing nominations and voting, allowing association members to play a significant role in selecting nominees, alongside a new Public Award.
The Culture Councillor, Jorge Suárez, presented the upcoming edition alongside the Culture Deputy, Esther Gutiérrez, and the Secretary of the Association of the Extremeña Music Awards, Pedro Gallardo. Suárez emphasised that the awards have become a well-established event in the region, stating, “This event is already more than consolidated, despite its youth. The gala we hold each year is one of the major meeting points for our music scene.”
He further remarked, “Extremadura has extraordinary musicians, bands, solo artists, producers, professionals, and musical projects that deserve to be known and recognised. We have a diverse scene, with different styles and generations, demonstrating that there is much talent and a strong desire to create here. These awards are precisely an opportunity for that talent to shine.”
The new application developed by the association will automate the process of receiving nominations and jury voting, facilitating participation. Additionally, the introduction of the Public Award will allow anyone to vote via Instagram.
Suárez highlighted that “our city is a cultural reference, not only because of the extraordinary historical heritage we possess but also due to our ability to generate, host, and project contemporary culture.” He also noted the importance of initiatives like the extremeña music awards.
Gutiérrez stressed the collaboration of local administrations, stating, “These awards were very necessary because we have a lot of talent in our land, both emerging and established.” Gallardo explained that anyone who has carried out a musical project in Extremadura in 2026 can submit their nominations from 1 December to 15 January 2027. Nominees will be chosen by association members, while winners will be determined by a specialised jury.
The awards will feature 12 categories, including: Roots, Best Musical Event, Best Band or Artist, Best Video, Best Production, Best Live Performance, Best Solo Artist, Best Album or EP, Honour Award, Best Song, Best Emerging Band or Artist, and Public Award.
