The Xunta de Galicia has recently concluded the application period for its digital transformation aid programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (pymes), administered by the Consellería de Economía e Industria through the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape). The programme received a remarkable response from the Galician business community, with 399 applications submitted, representing a 196% increase compared to the 203 requests made in the previous edition.
This significant interest underscores the commitment of companies to digital transformation as a crucial factor for enhancing competitiveness, productivity, and adaptability to new market challenges. The next step will be to await the resolution to determine how many of these applications will be granted funding.
The aid programme, which has a budget of three million euros, is designed to support projects that implement and operationalise digital solutions aimed at improving internal processes, commercial relationships, and digital interconnectivity within the value chain. Through this initiative, the Xunta continues to assist the Galician productive sector in adopting technologies that promote business modernisation and growth.
Eligible projects include the digitalisation and automation of processes, the implementation of comprehensive management systems, the development of digital interfaces and channels for customer and supplier interaction, improvements in logistics functions, cybersecurity measures, and technological solutions focused on measuring and monitoring environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. Additionally, the programme has incorporated specific actions related to cloud solutions and Software as a Service (SaaS), adapting to the new technological challenges faced by Galician pymes.
The high level of demand indicates that this funding line meets the actual needs of businesses and has established itself as a key tool for accelerating digital transformation and modernisation within the Galician productive fabric. Through this initiative, the Consellería de Economía e Industria strengthens support for projects with effective implementation and verifiable results, aimed at increasing efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness among pymes.
Since its launch in 2018, the programme has supported 1,421 projects promoted by freelancers and Galician pymes, with a total of 28.55 million euros in aid, which has mobilised over 70 million euros in investments. This initiative has become a reference tool for promoting business digitalisation in Galicia. With this latest call for applications, the Xunta continues to advance its strategy of enhancing the competitiveness of the Galician business sector through innovation and digital transformation, helping pymes to incorporate advanced technologies that enable them to better face current economic challenges and seize new growth opportunities.
