World sight day highlights visual health at the University of Alicante

The University of Alicante will commemorate World Sight Day on Thursday, 22 October, with an event dedicated to promoting visual health under the theme "Vision Health for All." This initiative, organised by the Department of Optics, Pharmacology and Anatomy in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences, aims to raise awareness about the prevention and care of vision within the university community.

From 9 am to 1 pm, a primary visual health care station will be set up near the main entrance of the University Library, where fourth-year students from the Degree in Optics and Optometry will provide free vision screenings to all interested individuals. This activity seeks to encourage preventive measures and highlight the importance of maintaining ocular health.

The day will continue at 1:15 pm with a conference titled "The role of the optometrist in public health," presented by Noelia Agulló Campoy, a graduate in Optics and Optometry and the teaching coordinator for Optometry at the Health Department of Dénia. The lecture will take place in the Alfredo Orts lecture hall, located in the Optics and Optometry building at the University of Alicante.
