The mayor of Piélagos, Carlos Caramés, has awarded prizes to the winners of the 2026 Halloween decoration competition, which was open to educational centres, shops, hospitality businesses, and, for the first time, youth centres in the municipality. The ceremony took place on Wednesday in the Town Hall's Plenary Hall in Renedo, with the participation of councillors Carmen Bedoya and Gloria Bárcena.
Winners by category
In the category for youth centres, the jury awarded the first prize, worth €150 to spend in local shops, to the Centre for Dependency Care (CAD) Virgen de Valencia de Arce. The second prize of €100 went to the Los Robles Residence in Mortera, while the third prize of €50 was awarded to the DomusVi Residence in Liencres.
The Antonio Robinet School in Vioño won the educational centres category, receiving a €150 voucher for local shops. The second place was taken by CEIP Virgen de Valencia in Renedo, which received a €100 voucher, and the third place went to CEIP El Mimbral in Renedo, awarded a €50 voucher. Additionally, Lucas, a student from CEIP El Mimbral, received a €50 voucher for the best-decorated pumpkin, a contest exclusive to students from local educational centres.
Two establishments in Renedo, Librería Lisaso and Bar Las Vías, were also recognised by the jury in the commerce and hospitality categories, respectively, each receiving a cash prize of €200.
The vouchers must be redeemed by 30 November 2026, the final deadline, while winners in the commerce and hospitality categories must submit their payment requests by the same date, with no right to payment after that.
