The Pazo de San Marcos hosted the VII Tourism Awards on 29 September, organised by the Provincial Council of Tourism of the Lugo Diputación in celebration of World Tourism Day. This year, the awards honoured four initiatives that integrate tourism with heritage, gastronomy, tradition, and sustainability.
The recognised projects included the ‘Festival do Viño da Ribeira Sacra de Monforte de Lemos’, the ‘Encontro Internacional de Torneiros da Madeira de Xermade’, the ‘Festa da Enfariñada de Trabada’, and the ‘Santaballa, Territorio de Memoria e Sostibilidade de Vilalba’ project. These initiatives contribute to diversifying the region's offerings and enhancing its tourism appeal.
The Festival do Viño da Ribeira Sacra focuses on wine, gastronomy, and wine tourism, while the Festa da Enfariñada revives a traditional dish from Trabada, strengthening the link between local cuisine and identity. Meanwhile, the Encontro Internacional de Torneiros da Madeira promotes the revival of a traditional craft, turning it into a cultural and tourist attraction. The Santaballa project combines archaeological heritage, memory, and sustainability through a route and a fair celebrating local traditions.
