Urban climbing event transforms Torrejón de Ardoz into a climbing hub

The Zona Centro of Torrejón de Ardoz was transformed into a vast climbing wall last weekend during the Urban Climbing event, marking the first time this urban climbing competition has taken place in the Community of Madrid. Approximately 2,000 climbers of different ages and skill levels showcased their abilities by scaling buildings such as the Church of San Juan Evangelista, the Town Hall, and street lamps along Calle Enmedio, creating striking visuals that captivated onlookers.

Mayor Alejandro Navarro attended the awards ceremony on Sunday, accompanied by Alberto Tomé, the General Director of Sports for the Community of Madrid, and Miriam Gutiérrez, the Councillor for Sports and Tourism. The competition featured a qualifying round on Saturday, followed by finals on Sunday across various categories, including Children, Youth, Amateur, Professional, and over 50, for both male and female participants.

In addition to the competitive events, the weekend included activities for all ages, such as an open bouldering area where both children and adults could try their hand at climbing. The event also showcased para-climbing demonstrations and professional climbers like the Pou brothers, alongside contests, talks, and live music.
