Traffic disruptions expected during Lluèrnia festival in Olot

The Festival of Fire and Light, known as Lluèrnia, will be held in Olot on 6 and 7 November, resulting in significant traffic disruptions across the city. The following details the main impacts for residents and visitors wishing to enjoy this fiftieth and final edition of the festival.

During the two days of Lluèrnia, the city centre will be pedestrianised, allowing only foot traffic. Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan their journeys carefully over the weekend and to minimise the use of private vehicles. The pedestrian zone will be in effect from 5 PM to midnight on both days of the festival.

Areas affected by traffic restrictions

The pedestrianised area will extend to the Morrot area and Plaza Clarà due to installations set up in these locations.

  • Plaza Clarà: All surrounding streets will be closed to traffic. Roads including Pare Roca, Pintor Galwey, and part of Avenida Reyes Católicos will be affected. Access to the eastern part of Plaza Clarà will remain open, but vehicles coming from Paseo de Barcelona will only be able to proceed towards Calle Mulleras.
  • Avenida Reyes Católicos: Vehicles will be diverted via Calle Josep Ayats, with no access to Plaza Clarà.
  • Avenida del Morrot: The section between Calle Pintor Domenge and Joan de Cabirol will be closed. Access to the Morrot neighbourhood will be via Polígono Pla de Baix.
  • San Francisco: Access will be blocked on Calle de San Bernat. Only residents with permits will be allowed entry via Calle Pintor Domenge, exiting through Calle de Macarnau.
  • Firalet: Traffic disruptions will occur on Paseo Ramón Guillamet and surrounding streets, with a single exit via Calle Roser.
  • Calle Hospici: This street will be closed to traffic, with only private parking users allowed to enter and exit exceptionally.

Visitors are encouraged to park in the large free parking area that will be set up at the former train station's esplanade, located ten minutes' walk from the city centre. Additional options include free parking zones in the San Cristóbal neighbourhood and Avenida de San Juan de las Abadesas, marked with a green 'P' on the map. Paid parking facilities in the city centre are indicated with a blue 'P'.

The Olot Municipal Police will manage traffic during the festival, while Civil Protection will oversee the various installations.
