The Canarian wrestling programme ‘Terrero y Gloria’ will kick off its sixth season on Saturday, 31 October, with a live broadcast of the Liga Cabildo de Gran Canaria Primera Categoría match between current champions Unión Gáldar Ybarra and historic team CL Adargoma, which is returning to the top tier. The event will take place at the Terrero Municipal de Gáldar and can be followed from 19:45 on the digital platform Canarias Play and on the Deportes channel of TVC on YouTube.
The match will be re-aired on Sunday, 1 November, at 18:00 on TDT, directed by Willy Rodríguez Calero, featuring top collaborators from the world of wrestling.
Unión Gáldar will debut this season in front of its fans as they defend their title, led by puntal A Alberto Zamora, who is entering his second season at the helm of the northern team and aims to continue making history. Opposing him will be Miguel Hernández, known as ‘El Majorero’, a puntal A who returned to CL Adargoma after a long stint at Saladar in Fuerteventura, twelve years after leaving his home team in the San José neighbourhood of Las Palmas.
‘Terrero y Gloria’ returns to Radiotelevisión Canaria with a new edition that continues its commitment to providing extensive coverage of this traditional sport, bringing audiences the latest from the wrestling arenas across the islands, with various perspectives and a unique style. The programme retains its regular team, with David Yanes commenting on the matches and Jorge Benítez conducting interviews at the terrero.
Nereida Alonso will travel across the islands for reports, while Beatriz García will host the show from the studio alongside José Manuel Pitti. Juan Espino Dieppa, known as ‘El Trota’, will continue to offer his unique insights into Canarian wrestling, and Carolina Méndez will cover current affairs on social media.
This season's first episode will pay special attention to the signings and reinforcements of teams in the Primera Categoría of the Canarian wrestling league. Before each match, Beatriz García and José Manuel Pitti will analyse the key aspects of the confrontation, the strengths of each team, and the puntales who will compete in the ring.
After the wrestling, the team will gather impressions from the participants from a set installed at the terrero. The broadcast will also include highlights from the weekend's most significant matches in other competitions across the islands and the latest news in the sport.
In the premiere, the programme will also provide information on matches held in La Palma, Fuerteventura, and Tenerife. With this sixth season, ‘Terrero y Gloria’ reaffirms its commitment to promoting Canarian wrestling and bringing viewers the excitement of competition, its protagonists, and the latest developments in the sport.
