The Insular Archive in San Sebastián de La Gomera will host the presentation of 'Crónicas de la pandemia', the first novel by epidemiologist Amós García Rojas, on 4 November at 18:00. Published by Punto Rojo, the novel explores the experiences, dilemmas, and emotions that characterised the years of the health crisis.
Through the lens of an epidemiologist who connects various stories, García delves into situations that allow readers to approach the pandemic from its health, political, social, and personal dimensions. The narrative combines lived experiences with imagination, highlighting the work of healthcare professionals and the response of citizens during this exceptional situation.
In his first foray into fiction, García underscores the importance of science, knowledge, and collective responsibility. The pages invite readers to remember the suffering endured, acknowledge the commitment of those who cared for others, and reflect on the lessons learned from the pandemic.
Amós García Rojas is a specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He previously served as president of the Spanish Association of Vaccinology and played a significant role in public outreach during the health crisis, explaining the evolution of the pandemic and the role of vaccines.
