Orihuela unveils diverse tourist offerings for november

Orihuela has announced an exciting array of tourist activities for November, focusing on the city's rich history, culture, gastronomy, and natural spaces. The programme includes the establishment of the guided tour route "Orihuela, a city to discover," visits to the Teatro Circo and the Colegio de Santo Domingo, and a new nature experience involving the installation of bird boxes at the La Pedrera reservoir.

The agenda aims to provide varied and participatory experiences that allow visitors to explore both well-known landmarks and lesser-known historical and environmental sites throughout the municipality. The guided tours will take place every Saturday, responding to high demand and positive feedback from the public.

Regular guided tours and special events

Gonzalo Montoya, the councillor for tourism, highlighted the significance of the weekly guided tour, which will feature key historical and monumental sites such as La Diablesa, Casa Villaescusa, the Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace, and the area dedicated to Ramón Sijé. These tours will be held on the 1st, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of November at 11:00 AM, departing from Plaza del Carmen.

Additionally, the programme includes a special visit on the 8th to commemorate the 1313 anniversary of the Pacto de Teodomiro, as well as a tour of the Palmeral and its spa on the 5th, and a visit to the Teatro Circo with a tasting event on the 12th for €6. On the 20th, the route "Three royal painters: stories behind the paintings" will explore the artistic value of works from the Museum of Sacred Art. The Casa Museo Miguel Hernández will open its doors to visitors on the 21st, while the Colegio de Santo Domingo will feature on the 27th.

Gastronomy and science

Montoya also emphasised a notable activity dedicated to conventual gastronomy, aimed at showcasing local traditions and providing participants with an experience that blends culture, history, and the flavours of Orihuela.

On the 22nd, the MUDIC (Interactive and Didactic Museum of Sciences) will host a visit accompanied by an astronomy workshop, combining education, experimentation, and entertainment for participants of all ages. Entry will cost €5.

Nature and biodiversity initiatives

The natural environment will play a significant role in the November programme. A scenic hike in Las Colinas is scheduled for the 15th, while on the 28th at 4:30 PM, a route dedicated to the Eurasian eagle-owl and Mediterranean forest fauna will take place in Sierra Escalona, with a specialist guide. On the 29th at 9:30 AM, a visit to the La Pedrera reservoir will explore its environmental significance, followed by a bird box installation activity at 3:30 PM, allowing participants to engage in environmental conservation efforts.

All activities have limited places and require advance reservations through www.orihuelaturistica.es in the "Reservations" section. Routes will be made available for booking on a weekly basis.
