Madrid municipal police showcases technological advancements in security

The municipal police of Madrid has unveiled its latest technological innovations at the V Tecnosec and DRONExpo, an international fair dedicated to high-security technologies, intelligence, and drones. The event is taking place at the Madrid Arena and runs until today.

Inma Sanz, the vice-mayor of Madrid, visited the police stand this morning, where the force is showcasing various advancements aimed at enhancing daily operations and improving public safety for the citizens of Madrid. Among the technologies on display are drones equipped with HD, night vision, and thermal cameras, electronic control devices (known as 'tasers'), artificial intelligence surveillance cameras, mobile tripod radars, accident scene scanning equipment, vehicle number plate reading systems, an operational vehicle with integrated CCTV, and dazzling light deterrent poles.

These innovations are part of a broader digital transformation strategy initiated by the city council to adapt to new technological developments. The police stand features representatives from various divisions, including the Central Security Commissioner, Traffic Judicial Commissioner, Road and Transport Support Commissioner, Training Commissioner (with its Shooting Section), Air Support Section (responsible for drones), Institutional Support Commissioner, and the Subdirectorate of IT, Communications, and New Technologies.

The fair also includes workshops demonstrating the use of tasers, drones, and AI surveillance systems for locating individuals. Approximately one hundred companies from the security sector, alongside various security bodies such as the National Police, Civil Guard, and Customs Surveillance, are participating in this significant event.
