The councillor for tourism and Albacete brand, Rosa González de la Aleja, has extended an invitation to join the heritage gastronomic route, organised for the second consecutive year by the City Council and the Provincial Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs (APEHT) in celebration of City Day. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to discover Albacete's historical and cultural heritage through the culinary creations of local chefs and regional products.
David Jiménez, president of APEHT, emphasised the charitable aspect of the route, noting that the funds raised will support Afanion, an organisation dedicated to helping children and adolescents with cancer and their families. The event is scheduled for Sunday, 8 November, and participants will have the chance to sample dishes from various local establishments.
The culinary journey will begin at the Teatro Circo, featuring a dish of marinated trout with pak choi and stewed mushrooms by Rafael Herrero from the Dallas restaurant. The second stop will be at the Municipal Museum, where Santiago Martínez from Ca’ La Yaya will present a caramelised millefeuille of blue duck foie, cecina, and fig confit. The route continues at the Museum of Cutlery, where chef Javier Albujer from Asador Concepción will serve a lamb gratin. Finally, participants will enjoy sweets from Confitería La Herrera in the Plaza del Altozano, paired with white orujo and rosemary honey from Api Mancha.
Those interested in participating can reserve their spot at the Municipal Tourism Office located in Plaza del Altozano, either in person or by phone, until the 180 available spots are filled. Rosa González de la Aleja explained that this initiative aligns with the municipal commitment to promote activities that showcase Albacete from various perspectives, connecting its heritage, traditions, and gastronomy.
David Jiménez highlighted that the aim of this initiative is to promote the city through three key values: heritage, gastronomy, and wine. The route promises participants an experience that transcends mere tasting, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of some of Albacete's most iconic spaces.
Tickets for the gastronomic, heritage, and charitable route are priced at 15 euros and can be purchased at the Municipal Tourism Office during its opening hours from 9:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00, or by calling 967 630 004.
