The Indilletres book fair is set to grow in its ninth edition, bringing together 55 independent publishers from across the Catalan-speaking regions and local bookstores La Siglantana and L'Esborrany. The event will take place at the Pavelló Firal in La Bisbal d'Empordà, offering 190 linear metres of exhibition space.
This year’s programme will also extend to the Teatre Mundial and the Biblioteca Lluïsa Duran, featuring seven self-produced debates, approximately twenty book presentations, children's activities, music, and two exhibitions. Indilletres aims to showcase independent publishers while fostering cultural programming that promotes reading in Catalan and encourages reflection on literature, language, and society.
With five more publishers participating than in 2025, the fair continues to grow, highlighting projects that often struggle to access larger commercial circuits. The presentation of Indilletres took place recently, attended by notable figures including Eva Rovira, the Culture Councillor of La Bisbal City Council; Xavier Cortadellas and Judit Pujadó from the Indilletres organisation; Glòria Marull, Vice President and Cultural Councillor of Baix Empordà; Mònica Alcalà, Deputy for Education and Youth of the Diputació de Girona; and Òscar Aparicio, Mayor of La Bisbal d'Empordà.
Guillem Nivet, president of La Bressola, will open this edition, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the organisation. His presence underscores Indilletres' commitment to promoting the Catalan language and defending its vitality throughout the Catalan-speaking territories.
The fair will once again concentrate the editorial showcase and most of the scheduled activities in one space, providing participating publishers with the opportunity to present their new releases, engage directly with readers, and advocate for the diversity and vitality of Catalan publishing. The editorial showcase will be complemented by around twenty book presentations at the Biblioteca Lluïsa Duran.
Indilletres was established in 2018 by a group of locals wishing to organise a fair for independent publishers in La Bisbal d'Empordà, with support from Edicions Sidillà and the local council. Today, it also collaborates with the Generalitat de Catalunya, Òmnium Cultural, the Diputació de Girona, the Baix Empordà County Council, and the Bisbal d'Empordà Commerce Federation.
As it prepares for its ninth edition, Indilletres is eager to contribute positively to the cultural landscape of the country. The organisation aims to promote reading and provide visibility for independent Catalan publishers and authors, fostering a more participatory and inclusive culture.
