The Vicerrectoría of the University of Vigo is set to showcase the vibrant sounds of folk music in its latest edition of the 'Música para reCREAr' cycle, supported by the Pontevedra City Council. This initiative aims to promote cultural engagement and highlight the significance of music within the community.

The concerts will take place at the Pazo da Cultura, with the first performance by the trio Caldo scheduled for Thursday, 29 October, at 20:30. The duo Abril will follow on 12 November, also at 20:30. Both events are free to attend, with doors opening at 20:00.

About the performers

Caldo, comprising Anaïs Barbier, María Jorge, and Pedro Fariñas, is known for their innovative approach to traditional Galician music. Their performances blend voice, violin, and guitar to create contemporary soundscapes rooted in oral tradition. The group gained recognition in 2020 at the Martín Códax Music Awards, winning in the folk category, and they released their second album, Lugar A Ponte, in 2023.

Abril, featuring Claudia Abril on vocals and pandereita, and Marina Carpente on violin, is celebrated as one of the most promising emerging acts in contemporary folk. They recently released their debut album, Medrar, which earned them the Martín Códax award for best folk project in 2026.

This cycle not only showcases emerging talent but also aligns with the Vicerrectoría's goal of fostering an inclusive cultural programme accessible to all citizens.
