The council of Huelva has awarded a contract for the installation of a self-consumption photovoltaic plant at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace, following the approval of the project in the Local Government Board meeting held this morning. The contract has been awarded to IMAS Energía Renovable for a total of €319,811.85.
This initiative will incorporate solar energy into one of the city's main sports facilities, improving its energy efficiency and contributing to a reduction in dependence on conventional energy sources. The project includes the installation of a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 438.75 kWp on the roof of the sports palace.
The installation will operate without excess energy, directing the generated power to the building's electrical consumption. It will also include the necessary electrical installations to connect the photovoltaic production to the internal network of the sports complex. Additionally, the project features the installation of two three-phase charging points for electric vehicles, each with two 22 kW sockets, thereby integrating solutions related to electric mobility.
Among the improvements included in the awarded offer is the installation of an 80-inch screen in a designated area of the pavilion's hall, along with the necessary wiring. This device will display information about the building's energy performance and the benefits of the photovoltaic installation, aiding in raising awareness among users of the facility.
Furthermore, the awarded company has offered to extend the initial warranty period by two years, resulting in a total warranty of four years for the project. Both improvements will be implemented at no additional cost to the council.
Energy efficiency and innovation in municipal buildings
The installation at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace is part of the municipal strategy aimed at improving the energy efficiency of public buildings through the incorporation of renewable energy sources, monitoring systems, and technological solutions to optimise consumption. This line of work includes projects like the one developed at Casa Colón, where a self-consumption photovoltaic plant has been installed alongside energy management systems, efficient climate control, LED lighting, and monitoring using IoT technology.
Moreover, the project at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace is part of the Integrated Action Plan 'Huelva district H-HUB of ecosocial innovation', which is integrated into the strategies for integrated development (EDIL) and co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This initiative contributes to the municipal objectives of decarbonisation and energy transition by harnessing renewable sources and enhancing the energy performance of public facilities.
