The final week of October brings a variety of cultural events to Galapagar, including exhibitions, children's activities, and special Halloween programming, which will culminate on Saturday, 31 October, with the Tunnel of Terror.
The schedule begins with two exhibitions that will be open during this period. The La Pocilla Cultural Centre will host the exhibition 'Art and Sand', which will remain open until 31 October with free entry until capacity is reached. Visitors can attend from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 21:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00. Meanwhile, the Ricardo León Library will showcase 'The Colours of the Sea', a collection of underwater photography by Manuel Terán, running until 14 November. This exhibition, which invites viewers to discover the colours of the world's oceans, is supported by Dr Eva M. García-Frutos, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM). It is open to all and can be visited during regular library hours, also with free entry until full capacity.
Among the children's activities is 'Diverfamily: The Magic of Autumn', organised by Punto Joven, taking place on Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 October from 17:30 to 19:00. This event is aimed at children aged 1 to 3, born between 2023 and 2025, and must be accompanied by an adult. Participation is free but requires prior registration.
The Ricardo León Library has also prepared several literary events for the week. On Thursday 29 October at 18:00, 'Masters of Terror' will be held, a discussion led by Ángel Sanchidrián Sanz that explores the horror genre through film and literature, encouraging participants to share their impressions and discuss stories that evoke fear and unease. This event is intended for those aged 16 and over, with free entry until capacity is reached, and registration can be done via email at biblioteca@galapagar.es.
On Friday 30 October at 18:00, 'Story Lab: Once Upon a Time' will take place, a participatory workshop where attendees will reinvent traditional tales through play, humour, and imagination. Inspired by the works of Gianni Rodari and Vladimir Propp, this activity invites participants to transform characters and situations to create new stories collectively. It is aimed at children aged 6 and above, with limited capacity and prior registration required.
That same Friday at 19:00, Valeria Iglesias will lead 'Weaving Terror: Our Part of the Night', a session for adults exploring Gothic literature based on Mariana Enríquez's novel. Entry is free until full capacity is reached.
Additionally, from 30 October to 6 November, the library will organise a bibliographic interest centre titled 'The Cemetery of Forgotten Books', featuring a selection of horror stories, supernatural tales, and surprise books available through blind borrowing, based on two or three clues. This initiative is open to all and will be available until stocks run out.
Punto Joven will offer other special activities on Friday 30 October from 17:30 to 20:30. Children aged 4 to 9 can participate in 'A Halloween of Laughter', while those aged 10 to 17 will have the workshop 'Get Ready for Halloween'. Both activities are free and require prior registration.
On Saturday 31 October, two terror trails will take place. At Punto Joven, 'Hotel Black Lake' will run from 18:00 to 23:00. This free event is aimed at those aged 8 and above and requires prior registration. Meanwhile, at La Posada, the Tunnel of Terror, organised in collaboration with the Galapagar Animation Group, will be open from 19:00 to 21:00.
The Galapagar Town Hall is collaborating with two local educational centres to host special Halloween activities. On 28 October, CEIP Carlos Ruiz will host a morning performance by the musical group Scalofrini, aimed at the school's students. The same day at 18:00, CEIP Jacinto Benavente will feature a storytelling session titled 'A Halloween Tale'. The Friday schedule will also include music at the Jacinto Benavente Theatre, with a charity symphonic concert by the Music Therapy and Health Foundation at 19:30. Tickets are priced at €12 online and €15 at the box office, for those aged 12 and over.
On Saturday 31 October, families can enjoy 'The Mickey Mouse Party', a musical with performances at 17:30 and 19:30 at the Jacinto Benavente Theatre. Tickets are available for €15 in VIP seating and €12 in preferred seating.
The week will conclude on Sunday 1 November with a dance for seniors at La Posada from 18:00 to 20:00, aimed at those aged 65 and over.
