Five padel competitions to attract nearly 1,000 athletes to Antequera

The La Quinta sports facilities in Antequera will host five significant padel competitions over the coming months, expected to draw nearly 1,000 athletes and more than 60 teams. These events, known as the Trofeos Diputación de Málaga, are organised by the Andalusian Padel Federation (FAP) with support from the Provincial Council of Málaga and the Antequera City Council.

The competition calendar began on 24 October with the final three Andalusian Cups of the 2026 FAP League for Teams, featuring categories for minors, veterans, and senior veterans. This opening day saw participation from 531 athletes across 32 teams from various regions of Andalusia. The veteran teams' competition was particularly notable, with 413 participants spread across 24 male and female teams.

In the men's Gold category, Campus Padel Granada emerged as champions, while Pádel Zuazo-Alfas took the title in the women's Gold category. GRX Padel-Axial Mediterránea won the Silver category. In the minors' category, Maspádel Málaga claimed the championship, and Santanas Padel Indoors Club triumphed in the senior veterans' competition.

Looking ahead, the next events will take place on 7 and 8 November, featuring the Andalusian Championships for Absolute and Senior Provincial Selections. The Absolute Championships will see teams from all eight Andalusian provinces, each represented by a male and female selection, competing in a total of 16 teams, with five pairs per team. Sevilla will aim to defend their titles in both categories after winning against Málaga in the finals last year.

On 8 November, the Senior Provincial Selections Championship will occur, also featuring 16 teams, but with three pairs per team. This competition is open to players aged 50 and above for men and 45 and above for women. Málaga will also seek to defend their titles in both the male and female categories from the previous edition.

The competitions were formally presented last week by Juan Rosas, the Vice President of the Provincial Council of Málaga, Deputy for Sports, and the first Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Sports of Antequera, alongside Nayra Ramírez, the Vice President of Competition for the Andalusian Padel Federation.
