la sala de exposiciones ‘la cárcel’ in molina de segura will host the exhibition ‘el tiempo vuela’ (time flies) by artist paquita rojo from 30 october to 30 november. the opening event is scheduled for 30 october at 19:30, and will be attended by the local councillor for culture, maría hernández.
the exhibition will be open to the public until 30 november, from monday to friday, between 10:00 and 13:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.
paquita rojo, who hails from archena and is 77 years old, is the eldest of four siblings and has always been a creative individual. originally trained as a dressmaker, she began her artistic journey by participating in painting workshops organised by the culture department of the molina de segura town hall in 2013. under the guidance of instructors such as cristina, pascual, carmen, and elisa, she developed her skills in painting.
this exhibition marks the first time she will showcase her complete body of work. reflecting on her artistic journey, rojo stated: “at the age when everyone retires, i discovered painting, oil, acrylics, and my imagination took flight. since then, colours have never been the same. i started with portraits, but one day i was asked to paint whatever i wanted on a large canvas of about two metres, and that’s how ‘el tiempo vuela’ was born. with my eyes closed, i saw myself among clouds, thinking and waiting for who knows what, but when i opened them, i saw the clock held by the kite, reminding me that i was alive. even though the clock ticks away time, the kite of my life still has string to fly a little longer, i don’t know for how long, but this exhibition will remain as a testament to my painting that we are about to see.”
