The town hall of Estepona has announced that the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos will transform into a hub of leisure and creativity this weekend, hosting the International Board Games Encounter. This event is expected to attract over 4,000 enthusiasts from across Europe.
During the two-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest and most anticipated board games that have recently featured at the Essen Spiel fair in Germany. The gathering will also host numerous publishers and authors, alongside tournaments, competitions, and demonstrations, fostering a family-friendly and participatory atmosphere.
Highlighting the event will be the presentation of the Spanish Board Game Awards, recognising the Best Author, Best Expert Game, and Best Family Game. Additionally, a regional puzzle tournament and a unique giant games area will showcase the largest catalogue of games in Spain. A dedicated games library will offer hundreds of games for families to enjoy guided play sessions, while over 30 publishers will unveil their latest releases, with a special focus on emerging small publishers.
National and international authors and illustrators will be present for signing sessions and live demonstrations. A key feature of the encounter is the Prototype Contest, where young entrepreneurs can present their creations, often leading to at least one game being published each year.
The event will run from 10:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, with free entry. This encounter has established itself as one of the most significant leisure events on the national calendar, attracting both local audiences and visitors from various parts of Spain and Europe. A diverse programme of activities will cater to all age groups.
