The Consell de Mallorca has intensified its collaboration with Turespaña, focusing on promoting a responsible tourism model that accommodates both residents and visitors. Guillem Ginard, the island's Tourism Minister, along with Tomeu Ferragut, the director for Demand and Hospitality, recently held discussions with representatives from Spain's main tourism offices abroad.
During the sixth Turespaña Convention in Zaragoza, the delegation from Mallorca engaged in professional meetings with officials from Spanish Tourism Offices (OET) in Italy, the United States, Mexico, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. These discussions aimed to deepen their understanding of each market's unique characteristics and explore collaborative opportunities to tailor Mallorca's international promotion strategy to various visitor profiles.
“The feedback from our meetings with the Spanish Tourism Offices is positive, as it allows us to continue progressing towards a more differentiated, strategic, and reality-adapted tourism promotion for Mallorca,” said Ginard. “We aim to open new opportunities in international markets, particularly outside the peak season, and attract visitors who appreciate our culture, heritage, identity, and the authenticity of the island.”
Ginard emphasised the importance of improving the quality of tourism, enhancing the destination's competitiveness, and preserving what makes Mallorca unique. He stated, “The future of tourism in Mallorca necessarily involves a model that generates value, respects our identity, and ensures an indispensable coexistence between residents and visitors. We envision a Mallorca that welcomes, shares its authenticity, and can generate prosperity without compromising the well-being of its citizens.”
Diversifying tourism through strategic markets
The Consell de Mallorca, through the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca, is developing a communication and promotion strategy tailored to various international markets. This initiative aims to encourage tourism that respects the territory, local identity, and the coexistence of residents and visitors. The strategy also highlights culture, gastronomy, heritage, and local products as essential elements to showcase a diverse and committed Mallorca.
The meetings also served to communicate Mallorca's priorities, ensuring these values are integrated into the destination's image in international markets. In this context, collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Offices is crucial for better understanding each market's characteristics, identifying key stakeholders, and fostering joint actions with professionals, media, and tourism sector agents.
Through this working session, the Consell de Mallorca has continued its strategy of collaboration with Turespaña, aimed at enhancing the destination's profile, promoting tourism that respects the territory and local identity, and fostering a harmonious coexistence between residents and visitors, while developing an international promotion that aligns with the island's reality and values.
