The Librería Pérgamo, located at Calle del Gral. Oráa, 24 in the Salamanca district of Madrid, is set to close its doors on 17 November. The current owners have been receiving offers from other booksellers interested in renting the space for €2,600 per month, the same amount the current managers have paid over the past four years.
The closure of Pérgamo marks a significant moment for the local literary community, as the bookstore has been a beloved fixture in the area. As the owners transition out, they hope to pass the legacy of the store on to new management that will continue to foster a love for literature in the neighbourhood.
