Ciudad Real will host the fourth edition of 'Vendimia entre Volcanes' from 29 October to 1 November, an initiative that combines geological heritage, science, culture, nature, and gastronomy. The event aims to raise awareness of the region's volcanic richness and its potential as a tourist attraction.
Tourism and Consumer councillor Cristina Galán and Education councillor María José Escobedo recently attended the final session of a municipal initiative at the Ángel Andrade school, which has reached 13 educational centres. This programme has provided children aged 8 to 10 with tools to analyse advertisements, recognise commercial strategies, and reflect before making purchases.
Galán emphasised the importance of promoting the volcanic heritage of the area, noting that the declaration of the Geoparque Volcanes de Calatrava is the result of years of research and collaboration, particularly with the Provincial Council and scientific work conducted by Geovol. She stated, “A geopark is not just about having volcanoes; it also represents an opportunity to enhance education, territorial identity, and experiences related to the environment.”
Event schedule
The programming will kick off on Thursday, 29 October, at 19:00 in the exhibition hall of the Town Hall, with the launch of a new mobile application for the geopark, presented by the Provincial Council, alongside the exhibition of the 'Storymap Volcanes de Ciudad Real', created by a university student under Geovol's guidance. Galán encouraged attendance to recognise “the immense young talent in the city.”
On Friday, 30 October, free guided tours of the volcanic galleries at Torreón will be offered at three different times: 17:00, 18:00, and 19:00. Saturday, 31 October, will feature various activities, including an excursion to the volcanic boiling pots in Carrión de Calatrava, accompanied by a visit and wine tasting at Bodegas Naranjo; a guided tour of Ciudad Real that includes the Torreón galleries; and a Halloween-themed tasting organised by Montes Norte at 12:00.
The event will conclude on Sunday, 1 November, with a family-friendly georoute along the Paseo de los Volcanes in Gasset Park, aimed at children and designed to explore the geological and volcanic history of the city.
Registration for municipal activities will open on Monday at the Tourist Office, available in person, by phone, and online. Through this initiative, the Town Hall aims to enhance knowledge of the local volcanic heritage and provide new ways to discover Ciudad Real and its surroundings, from scientific research to experiential and family tourism.
