On October 10, 2026, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Castilla-La Mancha underscored the vital role of women creators in the cultural development of the region. This acknowledgment took place during the opening of the first Women Creators Meeting: Music, Territory, and Future, titled ‘SONAMOS’, held in Campo de Criptana.
Olmedo expressed gratitude on behalf of President Emiliano García-Page to all individuals, entities, and institutions that made the event possible, as well as to those participating by sharing their knowledge, work, and vision. She noted, “Their presence demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing towards a more diverse, representative, and enriching cultural sector for society as a whole.”
Accompanied by Ana Sánchez, the Cultural Councilor of Campo de Criptana, and Manoli Nieto, the provincial delegate for Equality, the Deputy Minister highlighted the significance of events that recognize women's roles in music. She remarked that while music is a powerful tool for expression, identity, and cohesion, the recognition of women creators has not always matched their contributions.
Olmedo stated that gatherings like ‘SONAMOS’ are particularly valuable as they provide a platform to highlight careers, share experiences, and create new collaboration opportunities. She commended the Campo de Criptana City Council for its support in organizing this inaugural meeting.
During her speech, the Culture official referred to the “significant challenges” facing culture today, but also to the “extraordinary opportunities” presented by digitalization, new forms of creation and dissemination, community connections, and a growing sensitivity towards equality. “These factors allow us to envision a more open and participatory landscape,” she said.
To achieve this, Olmedo emphasized the importance of continuing to promote meeting spaces like this one, where dialogue and cooperation can drive change. She expressed hope that the reflections and proposals arising throughout the day would help strengthen professional networks, foster new projects, and contribute to building a more robust, innovative, and equitable cultural sector.
In conclusion, she wished the organization SONAMOS a long and fruitful journey, establishing this space as a reference point for women creators and all those committed to the cultural development of their communities.
