Cambrils celebrates 80th birthdays of local residents

The town hall of Cambrils recently held a reception for a group of 17 residents who are celebrating their 80th birthdays this year. The event took place on 10 October in the town's Plenary Hall, led by the Councillor for Social Welfare, Mar España.

The celebration commenced with an official group photograph in the town hall's foyer, featuring the iconic giants Pere and Camí. Following this, the attendees moved into the Plenary Hall, where music from their youth filled the air. Both the councillor and a representative from the group shared heartfelt words with those present.

The event also served as a nostalgic journey through time, highlighting significant events from 1946, introducing historical figures born that year, and reminiscing about Cambrils' past as a primarily agricultural and fishing village.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants received gifts, which were reproductions of a watercolour painting of Cambrils' fishing port created in 1945 by artist Josep Piqué Iserte. These gifts were provided by the Josep Piqué Art Foundation, dedicated to promoting the artist's legacy.

The festivities continued with a celebratory lunch at a local restaurant, allowing the group to further commemorate their milestone together.
