The local council of Alcañiz has launched a new Autonomous Sales Point (PVA) designed to allow users of the Municipal Sports Service (SMD) to access a range of related services. These include booking facilities for individual use, managing activities, and settling outstanding payments.
Eduardo Orrios, the councillor responsible for sports, stated, “We have installed the autonomous sales point (PVA) alongside improvements to the mobile application to modernise access and facilitate users in booking spaces or paying for activities. Furthermore, non-subscribers can also pay for summer pool entry and daily access to any other sports facility.”
The PVA operates by tapping the screen, allowing users to log in either with their membership card for quicker access or using their username and password from the SMD's online platform, deportesweb. For card access, users need to select the option to identify themselves with the proximity reader located beneath the screen.
Once identified, users can choose their payment method, either cash or card, and gain access to the main menu, which features two primary sections: ‘facility reservations’ and ‘activities’. There are also independent buttons for ‘reissuing membership cards’ and ‘paying outstanding invoices’ for both members and activities.
When selecting ‘facility reservations’, users are presented with a menu of 12 options corresponding to various spaces. By clicking on any facility, green squares indicate available time slots, which can be selected and confirmed to proceed to the payment cart. For activities, users can click the relevant button to access four options: ‘registration from waiting lists’, ‘enrolment in activities’, ‘joining a waiting list’, or ‘payment for neighbourhood classes’.
For instance, if a user opts to join a waiting list, they will see a list of activities that accept new members. To streamline the search, filters can be applied by programme, sub-programme, shift, period, and level. Once a specific waiting list is selected, the machine will print a receipt detailing the user's name, the activity they are waiting for, and their position in the queue.
If users do not have their membership card, they can still access the PVA using their personal credentials: the user identifier and password from deportesweb. An alternative solution provided by the SMD for those without their card is the generation of a virtual ticket, which automatically creates a temporary QR code for access to municipal sports facilities.
